I was talking with someone recently about school, and books, and how expensive they are, and how states can't afford them, and how kids these days would rather watch YouTube. I was trying to remember the name of this place I came across. I finally dug it up. It's Khan Academy, and it's amazing the things you can learn from him. Apparently he's a pretty good teacher. So if you want to catch up in class, or remember stuff you forgot, check it out.

If you're having trouble imagining anything after the sixth dimension, maybe this will help. If you can wrap your head around it, the book sounds like fun.

Where you from? Well, ultimately, Africa, but then we all spread out from there. This is a good animation that shows where we went and when, after we left. It ties in with Joseph Campbell's "Masks of God" series and the separation of the "Southern Planters" from the "Northern Hunters". Maybe that happened because of a huge volcanic eruption.

Want some cool wallpaper for your computer's desktop? Apparently the folks at Woodworker's Central really like wood. They scanned in some images of actual pieces of wood. I looked at a few of my favorites, like Koa, Cherry, Teak and Mahogany. I right-clicked, save as..., and cropped out the borders, then tiled them on my desktop. Now it looks like an actual desk, and a really nice one. It'd be good to get some 1600x1200 images to get rid of the seams, but this'll do for now.

If you're more interested in what's "out there," you can go here and get some images from the Hubble Space Telescope, all pre-scaled to whatever the resolution of your desktop.
